    •  This is the business side of healthcare, combining 
       operations management, privacy, law, data analytics 
       and databases, information technology, finance and 
       revenue cycle
    •  HIMS professionals manage staff and systems to 
       collect, store, retrieve, analyze, interpret, communicate, 
       and protect healthcare data that is vital for healthcare 
       delivery, reimbursement, planning and evaluation of 
       quality patient care
    •  It is a two year program once eligible to start taking core

          as a Registered Health Information Administrator 
          (RHIA)
          •   Students may also be certified in other specialty areas – 
              good thing for career prospects
          •   100% of graduates from the HIMS program passed the 
              RHIA exam for 5 consecutive years!
       •  Average starting salaries for graduates with a 
          bachelor’s degree in Health Information 
          Management and Systems range from $40,000-

     Current OSU students:  Steps to declare an HRS pre-major 
     •  Complete one full term at OSU; if you are a freshman or transfer 
        student, you can not be switched until your first term grades are 
        posted
     •  Have an OSU GPA of at least a 2.5
     •  Complete the MIS Quiz in Qualtrics
     •  Meet with an HRS Advisor 
     •  If you are a current OSU student and you meet the minimum 
        criteria, we can change your major to a semester based on the 
        timing of your appointment
