Students will attend French class twice per cycle. They will develop vocabulary and expressions
to comprehend and communicate basic information in French. The course will focus on
listening, speaking, reading, writing and cultural awareness. Themes will include the value of
learning additional languages, numerical skills, school facilities and programs, daily tasks and
routine activities, making phone calls, food, restaurants menus and orders, and cooking recipes
and outdoor activities. Students will demonstrate listening and reading comprehension with
oral and written responses; they will express preferences and opinions in French, and they will
participate in structured speaking activities.
